best place for mid-high stakes NL cash (5-10/10-20/20-40)?
hey guys, basically here is my situation.
im 21, for the past few years ive played part time while going to school. I decided i was gonna start taking part time online classes, and focus on playing 40 hours a week. I usually 5 table mid stakes 6 max nl cash (3-6 to 10-25) and would like to do so 40-50 hours a week. Unfortunantly i suffer from extreme burnouts form playing online poker, and enjoy playing live much much more Ive made decent money with a really good hourly win rate, just havent put in many hours. Id like to start playing a lot more live, and am after the advice given to me from a couple other pro's i know, move to LA. Right now im about ready to pack up my bags and move to LA, and start with the 10-20 they spread at either commerce or bike...but to be honest, im totaly up for any advice anyone could give me. i have no attachments, commitments, basically ive got 100k in cash, and a couple really nice cars.... i want to play live.....where should i go for the softest 10-20 20-40 ish live nl games? Im not opposed to moving out of the country either thanks for the help guys matt |

Re: best place for mid-high stakes NL cash (5-10/10-20/20-40)?
Heres the thing I've generally found about "whats the softest game at xxxxx level?" threads....
Everyone will chime in based upon their personal experience, and 99% of the time they won't have won't have enough of a sample size at all of the casinos to make their opinions worthwhile. Sometimes just one fish can make a game turn from tough to soft(and you're especially inclined to remember this aspect if you won a big hand off of the fish). Unless you've played 100+ sessions at each of the casinos that you're comparing, then your opinion really loses validity imo. And I really doubt many people have played 100+ sessions in all of the casinos that offer $10/20NL just in the U.S., not to mention the entire world. Basically I would just narrow your choices down to the cities that regularly spread the games you're looking for(hopefully in multiple casinos too) and then make your choice based upon other factors regarding the area. Personally I'm moving to Vegas in 3 weeks, and I don't think you could possibly go wrong there, although you need to realize that there are going to be a ton of temptations there so you must be honest is assessing your self control and bankroll management skills. If you decide to move there or want any more opinions from me after I move, feel free to shoot me a PM anytime or reply in this thread. Assani |

Re: best place for mid-high stakes NL cash (5-10/10-20/20-40)?
yes, i know there are some probs with this thread because not very many people are actually qualified to give advice on this....Like u said, 100 plus sessions at multiple casinos is not easy.
That being said, i still think i could get some valuable advice. I was hoping for something along the lines of "hey i play live in (insert random area/casino) and there is some of the softest 10-25 no cap no limit games around here, playings are horrible, stacking off with tp no kicker, pots 6 way preflop etcet etc.. i average a buy in a day, cost of living is cheap, and hot bitches will worship worship me because i am a young poker baller" while that may just be a fantasy, i still havent given up on that idea. SO if anyone has anything along those lines id love to hear it. but i apprecaited the response and was considering moving to vegas, let me know how it turns out and good luck -matt |

Commerce, Commerce, Commerce. You'll get plenty of consistent action at Commerce playing $10/$20 or $20/$40. You can PM me if you want more info.

Commerce has consistent 20/40 games, Bike does not. Bike has 5/10 all the time and runs the 10/20 when Legends or other big tourneys are playing. The 10/20 are "softer" looser at Commerece, the 20/40 are wild, good and deep stacked. People can sit down with upwards of 15-20K. Do you really want to risk 25% of your bankroll at a time? If you fancy yourself a really good, winning pl;ayer at liver 20/40. Commerec is the place. You'll have to make bifg laydowns, monster decisions and risk going broke. Vegas has a different vibe, depending on what's happening in town, i.e, conventions, tournaments, time of year. 10/20 at Bellagio or Wynn are good games, though you will run into many locals. To each his own. Try a few places, get a sampling and make a decision. No reason you have to lock in one casino.
