Problem with SD card reader on monitor
Hi,
I have one of these funky new 3007wfp, and it has 2 card readers on the side - one marked "CF", the other marked "SM/SD/MS/MMC". I have a camera with a SD card, which works fine when I plug the camera into the USB slot on the monitor (which tells me there is no problem with the card, the USB connection of the monitor etc). However, when I put the SD card directly into the slot SM/SD/MS/MMC, it can read the file structure OK, but it will freeze when copying files to the computer. In fact, it seems that it is reading the card, but just very very very slowly. Any Ideas? TIA |

Re: Problem with SD card reader on monitor
My 2405 has similar card integrated reader slots, I have no such issues.
No drivers are needed for my monitor's card readers. I would have to assume your 3007 has a borked card reader unit - whether that is worth the bother of RMAing it I could not say, I'm a lazy git, I probably wouldn't - but I know plenty people that would - and I could hardly begrudge a customer wanting an exchange (I may grumble about their nitiness tho ). It costs maybe £10 for a USB2 card reader, so I'd just use one of those (or the camerea itself) if need be, just to avoid being without the display for however long Dells RMA procedure takes. Probably worth borrowing a CF card to see if it is similarly broken, also try another SD card if possible. All I can really offer is that I suspect this is faulty hardware, but it is hardly a deal breaker on a 30" monitor (to me, that is). Best of luck, dave. |

Re: Problem with SD card reader on monitor
Have you tried any other SD cards? It might be a slightly borked reader and a slightly borked card.

Re: Problem with SD card reader on monitor
-tried updating new drivers already, no help, but thanks.
-no I can't be [censored] to replace the monitor. It's just kind of handy really, rather than having to untangle cables -will try another card sometime OK thanks folks |

Re: Problem with SD card reader on monitor
another wierd thing I just noticed:
It seems to write to the card perfectly, even very large files. It just reads extremely slowly. |
