The problem with your and Charlie's argument is that you can't have it both ways. You say the Spurs are one of the two elite teams in the league, but you rate the Mavs down for not putting them away in 5 games?

The Mavs got up 3-1 because they're an incredible team. They won two close games and had the only blowout of the series. The Spurs came back because they're also an incredible team, not because of any weakness of Dallas's.

Game 7 was a battle between two superpowered teams, and Dallas won that overtime convincingly, there was nothing fluky about it. They hit their shots, they played great defense, and they just had too much firepower down the stretch. The way they closed out that series should say all that needs to be said about killer instinct, not to mention the fact that they have the only sweep in this year's playoffs.

I can't for the life of me understand why one team needs to "dominate" the previous best team in the league in order to gain some kind of credibility. For anyone watching that series, it should have been clear that Dallas was at least on the same level as SA. If you're calling SA elite, you have to say the same for Dallas.

I was wondering when rational thought was going to come into this thread.

"The Spurs simply don't have it"

The spurs are playing way below what they can do, so are the pistons. The Mavs didn't reach the Spurs/Detroit level, these two teams just went down a few notches since last year.

[/ QUOTE ]

saying this over and over wont make it true.

honestly you sound like Matt Leinart after the Rose Bowl, whining that the better team lost. So your team is playing like crap. So what? Take it like a man, and give some respect where it's due.

Seriously, who cares what teams ranks are if they are all playing optimally? That never happens, the only thing that matters is which team wins.

then there is no point in having this discussion in the first place, the "nba elite" is one team, the champion.
