Ok, at the time I thought the river was pretty close. Afterwards I thought it was pretty clear, but I just wanted to check.

I also might consider betting the turn in situations like this more often. If I hadn't bet the turn I would have bet as a 2nd barrel alot, often to set up for a river shove if called.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, that's exactly the point of the post. I'm checking the turn intending to call the river or bet if checked to (at least most rivers). And I would pay off 90. But him potting it polarize his range and since his flop range already is weak made hands or monsters it seems like a pretty clear fold.

I agree if he bets < 100 I call. I'm confused by his pot size bet... not really sure in this spot.

I don't think calling or folding can be all that bad here, but I think I lean towards a call after you check the turn. You've essentially repped AK here although I can't imagine who pots for value on this board unless that's his standard with 88-1010 though I doubt it given stats and read (and if he has JJ/77/44/22 it's a pretty stupid line to take). I just wonder what your range looks like to him at the river besides AK/AQ and maybe 55/66 and 88-1010 and what he wants you to fold and what he expects you to call with.

[censored] it, call . . .

the pot sized bet in this scenario is almost always a nuts or air situation, and while we do beat air it depends on his bluffing frequency

i don't think it's that high here thus i fold

Bizarre spot, I likely fold this though. $85 probably max I would call on the river.

The problem is he knows we don't have much of a hand since we checked turn. If he has any part of the flop and wants some river value why wouldnt he value bet a smaller amount that we occasionally might look up with a medium PP or a J ?

I'd call
