25NL - 92o, bb special
This is one of those hands that I didn't really give a lot of thought to, but while reviewing my histories gave me some pause. Villain is 40/12/.7
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) SB ($37.70) Hero ($40.05) UTG ($57.85) MP ($24.60) CO ($27.60) Button ($12.95) Preflop: Hero is BB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls $0.25, 4 folds, Hero checks. Flop: ($0.60) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, UTG bets $1, Hero raises to $2, UTG calls $1. Turn: ($4.60) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $5, UTG calls $5. River: ($14.60) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $10.5, UTG raises to $50.6, Hero calls $22.30 (All-In). Final Pot: $98 I don't know why I donk-raised him on the flop. Maybe I'd been back and forth with this guy a bit and I was just messing with him. Anyway, I think the interesting thing is the river. Given that he's relatively passive, it's probably not all that likely that he's doing this with less than trips, right? I don't think I stopped for analysis when I was playing this. Most of the time he's got at least a 9, or 87 or something. And if he does have a 9, unless it's 95-92, he's scooping the pot. So is this a fold? |

Re: 25NL - 92o, bb special
Honestly, I think I would c/c river. A decent 10 or a PF-slowplayed overpair will probably value-bet if checked to. As played, the river is a fold to such a passive player. The only hand you beat is probably AA-KK, which he would just call the river with

Re: 25NL - 92o, bb special
Wow, you do realize there are a ton of draws on the flop right? Bet the flop, hope he raises or something so you can 3bet. Poker 101. Check mini-raise slows him down unless he improves to a winner. The only reason to cr here is if you think he will tilt-shove with ATC over your cr. Since he didnīt, you got way too little money in on this flop.
The river is an insanely easy fold. Unless you have seen him play AA or KK like this. With trips no kicker the flop is the best place to get the money in. |

no offence but u slaughtered this one. There is nothing you beat he pushed you on the river, also bet the flop, dont slowplay this, u dont have a monster or something.

Re: 25NL - 92o, bb special
Yes, as I mentioned in my original post, I have no idea what I was doing on the flop. This is completely non-standard for me.
I think the best thing someone has mentioned so far is c/c the river. Better here was stupid, because no one is likely to call with a worse hand, but they might bet a worse one. |

You minraised the flop? Raise to $3 there. Also, fold the river.

Re: 25NL - 92o, bb special
You are fairly deep here, raise the flop more or lead 3 bet.
Then I think you need to check/call the river, I don't want to stack off in this spot and I want to see the showdown. It's an easy fold to his river raise, he isn't afraid of a 9. |

Re: 25NL - 92o, bb special
When I've got trips and no kicker, I make it my business to keep the pot as small as possible. If you make a move your hand is pretty transparent, so the only way you'll get business is if you're beat (or the villain is brain dead).
Pretty much every move you make announces that you have a nine, and he raises was looks like a value bet. Muck a luck luck luck. |

I played it like I had a set, which of course would be a hugely different situation. |
