I also think he wanted to try to be 100% fresh so he could perform well in his debut and try to live up to the unrealistic hype.

It was really just the nature of how sports media HYPED this thing, and it came to showtime and it's like "oh wait lol he's not even playing?" and the next game it was "rofl he's STILL not playing, after ALL THIS?!".

I think it's completely reasonable for the teams management to want him to sit out till his injury is completely healed before they put him on the field ( pitch? )

What I'm saying is that the situation turned into a bit of a joke. Beckham was supposed to be the next big thing and spark major interest in soccer here, and instead the whole thing turned into a circus. I'm not saying this is Beckham's fault, or the media's fault necessarily, but what I am saying is that this whole situation that was supposed to make Americans love soccer hasa been a resounding failure thus far.
