Pimp my Couch

So, I'm finally moving into my own place (it's about time, I'm 24) and I actually got to buy stuff. I've already chosen which 50 inch plasma I'm buying for the living room, so the other important thing is a couch. My future roommate (poster neff) and I know nothing about couches. But we want something contemporary and cool looking, but also comfortable as hell seeing that I'm gonna be spending too much time on it. Looking to spend no more than $4,000, unless convinced otherwise. So, OOT, what couch should I get?

This isn't that complicated. Go to stores, sit on couches. Look at pricetags. Buy couch.

This is what I did a couple of summers ago:

Go outside.
Find a discarded sofa on the curb which doesn't look too dirty.
Bring that couch indoors.

4000 on a couch is pretty retarded. You can get any AWESOME couch for about half that. Plasma sucks too go with LCD.

What does the rest of the apartment look like, it would help if we had an idea of the style to help pick out a couch.
