He's going to play a ton of trash the same way. In fact, all trash.

Sets/straight/2 pair/overpair/44/55/air.
Obviously crushed by sets, straight, 2 pair. Sets and straight (45s) make sense for all streets.
Any 2 pair hand is a pretty poor pf call from him so less likely.
The only overpair we beat is 77. The 44/55 has a gutshot but I doubt he's going pot/pot with that. Air is possible but why would he?
OP, what was your range for him at this point?

I had seen him try and take pots away when the flop looked like it had not connected with the PFR, villain was fairly aggressive. Put him on small PP/SC/2pair with some bluff frequency. Villain was mixing it up at the table and had shown several bluffs

We're never folding here, so the best thing to do is figure out what the best thing to do for the turn and maybe river is. Raise him off his hand now and represent the ace, orj ust call?

I simply call because people take their bluffs too far at this level or simply overvalue their hand. He may have actually hit the ace, too, so raising is a double-edged sword of not getting enough value and maybe running into a wall.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're never folding here? Just how much value do you put on pocket 8s? There's a lot of room for a read here. if opponent is complete idiot this might be a call.

Against a lot of players, this is a lot of strength and will often beat 1 pair.

To say you'll never fold here is crazy.

Don't quite have that behind, started the hand with 13.7.
Provide some reasons for raising, and why it is better than calling in this spot.

The flop likely didn't hit him. He's re-raising overpairs / big Aces / some broadway PF. The ace easily could've hit him, but odds are more likely it didn't. We're likely looking at a small overpair, with only about 99 beating us, a mini two pair, or trash like 2nd pair.

Now if he potted the river, obviously we fold. IME though this is not a line a strong hand like KK or 23 takes.
