9er fan for life although I never lived in SF. I loved them when I was young. I loved them now that they are horrible, I don't really care.

Re: 2+2\'s Favorite NFL Team
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think the name "Dick McPherson" even rings a bell to most current Pats fans. [/ QUOTE ] he was old, but he had spunk!! fwiw, I remember going to Foxboro stadium in the late 80's to watch the (estimating) 1-10 Pats play the 2-9 Colts. It was 35 degrees and freezing rain. They just kept fumbling the ball back and forth to each other around midfield. What a disaster. |

[ QUOTE ] interesting how the Bears are winning now. Do we have a poll like this from before this season? -Somone who's favorite Football card growing up was Neal Anderson [/ QUOTE ] on that same note, are the patriots the 2nd most popular team before the 2001 season? no chance in hell i think. i live in new england, but not in mass, and it's just funny how many more pats fans there are now than there were before their first superbowl win. one of the many reasons i hate them. [/ QUOTE ] anywhere you take a pool where your user basis is disproportionately from the northeast, you are going to have a lot of Patriots fans. |

Re: 2+2\'s Favorite NFL Team
Any successful team has bandwagon fans, and the Patriots are no exception. I am not one of them though. I remember my dad taking me to my first game when I was 6 years old. When I was 9, the Pats were doing one of those charity basketball tours in the off-season and I won an autographed Patriot football. I ran down from the stands to get it from Steve Grogan, who told me to go out for a pass. I caught the pass in stride and then Steve Nelson jumped up off the bench and tackled me. That football sits behind my bar at home today. A proud reminder of the 1978 Patriots. They may have been awful, but I didn't care.
Of course, that football is now surrounded by many photos, ticket stubs, etc from the three Super Bowl wins. I've had season tickets since 1994 and have been spoiled rotten by what's happened since Kraft bought the team. I appreciate every minute of it though, as I remember the times when we intentionally lost season ending games to get the higher draft pick (Kenneth Simms). For the record, I'm saving a spot behind the bar for a Super Bowl XLI Champions picture. Go Pats! |
