I don't like bluffing with hands that have small show down value. Your hand was probably good here, but you might get a fold from some thing like A6. It's just difficult to put these passive guys on a hand.

Ya. I would fire as well. It might be a little ev- in a vacuum but if we lose we have the 2nd best position to take what has become a full stack plus he`ll give it to us with anything after this hand.

I've often seen these guys make huge calls and then tighten up completely when they win.

Would anybody disagree with this: if you are going to run a bluff against this sort of player then this is the exact kind of spot you want to do it in.

I guess, but that's up there with things like: if you're going to kill someone, do it when no one's looking.

the act itself is something that shouldn't be done, but there are rules you should follow if you undertake it.

This is terrible. Why would you pick this player to bluff anyway? Rep a straight against someone who actually thinks while playing

I don't actually mean to defend the bluff, but this is what I disagree with. Villain has to think that we're bluffing in order to call. A nonthinking player just looks at the board and say oh he must have the straight.

I don't try to do this sort of thing, but I'm not yet convinced it's a bad idea. When I check behind I always lose to 56o. Even calling stations can fold a pair on a board like this.

Cure your win-every-pot-syndrome. find better spots to bluff, there's no reason for this. A guy like this will call tons of times when his one/two pair hands should go in the muck, which is why this shouldn't be attempted in the first place. He called the turn, what makes you think he's folding the river?
