Top set on a board with a draw
What is the correct way to play top set on a board that we can almost positively put an opponent on a made straight. Is it standard to call down any bet in hopes of pairing the board or can we fold on the flop or turn?
Same scenario when we are the preflop raiser in position and out of position? |

Re: Top set on a board with a draw
If I have a set on a board where I'm like almost >90% certain that the villain has a made straight, then what I do is play it like my set is the underdog and the made straight is the favorite.
You want to pair the board or hit a backdoor flush to win the hand. The betting decisions will be based on pot odds, or half-pot odds if your opponent bets half the pot. |
