The game is so slow it's extremely painful to watch. I liked football (euro) as a kid (mainly because I played for ~10 years) and watched tons of games (mostly from TV, but I've seen a few games at stadiums with 30k-40k people). When I got older watching wasn't exciting anymore unless I was betting at the results, but I don't bet sports anymore as making +EV bets takes a lot of time I don't have.

Also, Larry Csonka is in the hall of fame so he must have been a pretty good player in the 70s as well.
