I find it hard to believe that many still can't even accept that the statements (regardless of who made them) are racist.

[/ QUOTE ]

rac·ism (REY-siz-uhm) n. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

The remarks did not say the problems were inherent in or caused by race itself (in fact, they suggested rather explicitly that differences in behavior among the races were taught). Further, they did not imply that any race was inherently superior to another.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah seriously. The remarks are in poor taste but not racist. All this is just PC whining. RedBean has become the worst poster in politics and that's an achievement.

It amazes me the level of rationalization people are using in order to justify their man-crush on Ron Paul.

Labeling clearly racist comments as racist is pulling out the race card?

Thats a new one to me.

When something is obviously racist, I would think it is justified in labeling it as such.

That you think different....well...I guess you're fond of playing the "Get out of Racism Free" card.

Disclaimer: My comments above are in no way directed in reference to Ron Paul, as I am prevented by forum rule from discussing Ron Paul and racism in any thread except my own, due to the massive amount of whining to mods from the followers of RonPaulNation.

The comments above are limited solely to my response to Tom Collins on his implied perception that I am quick to play a race card in situations that are unwarranted, which isn't true.

Also, if I remember correctly this line of discussion started when someone told redbean that he should learn more about pauls politics and stances because they actually make sense. Redbean says ok, I will go research paul, he comes back quickly and goes OMFG 1992 LETTER HES A RACIST, FACTS!

Redbean, why do you refuse to discuss any of pauls other policies? BECAUSE HES A RACIST I GUESS? Whether or not he wrote the comments notwithstanding, and whether the reason he never made a big deal of publicly refuting them was because no one cared enough about who he was to make it an issue, do you treat every politician this way? Or did you just see that there were a large number of paul supporters on this forum and decided to troll them?

If you support Ron Paul- you are a racist.

If you don't like the Civil Rights Act- you are a racist.

If you don't like letting the South Secede - you are a racist.

If you don't like Barry Bonds - you are a racist.

If you don't like Affirmative Action - you are a racist.

These are my short list of recollections of dealing with you in the past. I really think there would be fewer racists if the race card wasn't constantly pulled.

Assert your way to victory.

I've presented clear, specific reasons why I don't believe "racist" is a correct label for these statements. To me, they are not "obviously" racist. If you wish to convince me or anyone else otherwise, please explain where my argument falls short and specifically what criteria you are using to deem something racist.
