How much is the raise?
1/2 nl holdem. 3 player see the flop. The first player bets 10 dollars the next player to act says "I will put him all in.". Original better has $42 left. The third and last player has yet to act and has about $ 120 as does the raiser.
How much is the raise? Floor states the raise is equal to $42. Other players said player 2 (Raiser) is all in. Florida dog track

This situation came up yesterday at Foxwoods and the raiser was told that he had to state a raise amount. He had to ask how much the player had left and then raise that amount.
In OP's case, the raise amount needs to be clarified before the third player acts (i.e. put the chips in the pot).

I think the floor made the right call because this is one of those cases where the intent of the raiser was obvious. He did not want to go all-in, he wanted to put the original bettor all-in. Assuming you meant the original bettor had $42 behind his $10 bet, then the current bet should be $52. The other player sounds like he was trying to angle.

"I'll put him all in" cannot possibly be misconstrued to "I'm all in". Other players at the table don't get to make up rules and force people to pony up wagers they clearly didn't make. Your two choices here are $52 total, or "please state a specific amount for your raise, sir". There are the pedantic folks here and at B&M tables who insist "you can't put me all-in, you can only put yourself all-in" but "I'll put him all-in" is a very commonly used term. It's unambiguous, so I think you should go with the glaringly obvious intent. $52. I'm fine with "please state a specific amount" but it'll speed the game along if you just let someone use that expression rather than forcing 'em to go through the formalities of making the guy count down his stack and then stating a specific value.
KITN for everyone trying to make the raiser push all-in.

[/ QUOTE ] OP will have to come back and make this clearer but i think the problem is the interpretation of the pronoun not a misunderstanding of what was literally said. "i put him all in." is "him" player A or player C? if "him" is player C then the bet would be player C's stack of $120. this is also the same amount of player B's stack which would make player B all in as well.

Player 1 says "I put him all in" Player 2 immediately announces that he calls and pushes his whole stack in. Player 1 starts protesting that he didn't mean he put player 2 all in, he meant he put player 3 all in.obviously you understand that player 3 had a smaller stack than player 2. Stop saying "I put him all-in" you can't put him all-in, only he can put himself all-in.
