Low Wieght, High Reps (any advice?)
I was doing the exact opposite 8 months ago. I pretty much read up on a few 5x5x5 workout articles, and adopted my own workout.
Great results btw (in terms how much I was lifting, withing a few months, I was lifting 100% more on bench). Well now due to an injury, I need to do the exact opposite. My limbs in question are strong enough to lift weight @ the gym, however I sure as hell am not going to see how far I can go in terms of weight. Lets just say, I don't want to be lifting more than 15 or 20% of what I was 8 months ago (weight). I assume since I will be lifting less weight, I will need to increase the reps. Are there any high rep workouts (for upper body/chest/shoulder area)? Also what is the difference btwn them and the low rep/high weight (5x5x5) workouts. Thanks guys. |

Re: Low Wieght, High Reps (any advice?)
Why do you think you should be back in the gym if you're only capable of going at 20%?
I mean to say that I'd like more information and also to point out that it very well may be more beneficial to let the injury completely heal before touching weights. Why risk damage again so soon especially with such comparably light effort? |

5x5 isn't really low rep/high weight . . .

Have you ever thought of doing the grease the groove (GTG) method? It has substantially less danger of injuring you than a high rep routine. Or pretty much any routine. And it's extremely effective.

You wont stick to a low weight/high rep workout for long. Doctor told me I would never/shouldnt lift heavy again because of my shoulder...I just last week lifted more than I ever have done.
Some advice is this..make sure you do your PT. and then just start working out again but make sure all your movements are completely controlled |

So recommend a routine for you based on an injury, but you're not going to tell us what the injury is? Good luck.
