Etiquette question about raking loser's chips

Something I see all the time in limit games is when at showdown, the winning player grabs the loser's chips.

Example: Seat 6 bets the river by stacking his chips out, seat 7 calls headsup, seat 6 flips over say second pair, and seat 7 then flips over top pair. Seat 7 then grabs the chips in front of seat 6 while dealer is still mucking the cards and getting ready to push the pot.
Today, at Red Rock, the 8 seat actually grabbed 7 seat's card protector chip and already had it stacked when 7 realizes and says something - seat 8 gave it back but dealer says nothing. This was all before dealer had even pushed the pot.
Now THAT is clearly out of line, but it kinda annoys me when people do this - I feel like it is bad etiquette - but I am wondering if this is standard and I am just a nit for etiquette.
If this is really bad (and I am not just being unreasonable), how do I discourage this without looking like an ass? The dealers at least at RR don't ever say anything.

If the pot is won then your chips are gone. I see no problem with grabbing chips from in from of the guy sitting next you. Just make sure their the ones you won not card protectors or splashed stacks/

I don't like it. If you'd like to see why allowing this to happen to you is a bad idea, just watch this video. If this is possible, do you really believe it's not possible for a hustler/sleight of hand/magician type to grab somewhere in the area of 4-5bb everytime this goes down?

It's bad manners and it's spreading. There are those who simply pick up the chips and there are those who do what is already obnoxious even more obnoxiously, as if it were personal. I get the feeling that people who do it have bad table manners also. Yech.

It is very rude, and there was a time in the past where you may get your hand cut reaching that close to a man's stack, especially in the medium-high limit games. Unfortunately, those days are gone. I'd love to see this move tried on Moss or Amarillo in the early 70's. I also find the arrogant demeanor people do this with to be very annoying.

Even though I am 23, I learned to play poker at 16, and was taught by members at the country club I was working at as a caddie, so I guess I'm a little weird for my age in that I agree with alot of the older guys who state that they wish the cardrooms in the nicer casinos would implement a dress code requiring collared shirts and long pants. I for one have never once played in a cardroom without, at a minimum, a golf shirt and khaki pants, and usually a nice button down shirt and nice pants. However, thats just my opinion, and probably better suited for another thread.

I disagree. Its not bad manners at all, its only perceived that way by steamers.

Upon showdown cards speak. When the winner is declared the best thing to do is expedite the next hand, pick up the chips and move on as long as the winner has been declared by the dealer.

I have been in this situation myself a few times, each time the floor was called and I was ruled in the right provided showdown was verified. I have only seen people complain about this in Vegas, it never happened to me once in AC or any other market I played in. 9x out of 10 its usually a guy steaming who complains because he is shocked he lost the last hand, and he feels this adds insult to the injury.

PS: It might be a coincidence but I don't recall ever seeing anyone complain about this problem in timed games - I would guess because the players cognizance of keeping the game moving, but are not as aware in a raked game.
