Default ZOMG a golf forum

This is [censored] awesome. I couldn't believe it when I saw it today. I played collegiate golf and now teach for a living. I really enjoy talking about the game more than I do actually playing it. I get to play so little nowadays that my game is just not where I want it to be. This makes me play less because if I am not playing well I don't even feel like playing. The last round of golf I played was in Feb. in Vegas.

Good luck to all of you guys and if you want any tips just ask me any questions.

You teach golf for a living, or you are a school teacher?

Yea, seems like everyone here played golf collegiately. I teach golf for a living at an indoor teaching facility.

Cool, did you know that like 1% of golfers are actually able to break 90? It's a pretty difficult thing to do, good luck to you.

Wow is this a serious quote? This seems unlikely. I could see 1% breaking 80 because of the different skill set, but 90 is not that hard as long as you play regularly.

i've heard that quote from a few different sources...i think it really depends on what you define as "golfers". anyone who has played a round, anyone who owns clubs, anyone who plays >5x/year?

It is probably defined as anyone who has played a round. I had never shot below 105 averaging maybe 3 trips a summer.

This year I've shot 98,100,100. There is no doubt in my mind I can shoot 90 by the end of this summer because I intend to play at least once a week.

That said, most "golfers" don't actually play very often. I wouldn't be surprised if that quote is true if you include every hack who ever stepped on a course.

If you take every stroke, no gimmies, follow the rules to the "T" then yes, 1 out of every 100 golfers would break 90 on a course with an even par rating.
