Obv going for the pump is silly, and using it as a training guide could be misleading. However, going for stimulated blood flow and lactic acid in the muscle is probably beneficial. This is the idea of programs like Westside that will alternate low-rep-heavy days (when you stress the muscle) with high-rep-light days to stimulate the muscle growth (eg. get a "pump"). This is also the idea behind doing a light 1x100 at the end of a workout.

not to nit this thread but I'm pretty sure he cannot run for president as he isn't a natural born citizen of the U.S.

yea this is definitely one of the weirdest threads I've read in awhile. I lift, and when I lift hard I get the feeling that I guess you guys describe as "the pump". Is there something wrong with that or what?

No. But talking about it like Arnie does is very weird.

I think OP wanted to find out whether it was in any way beneficial to get "a pump" and if it should be something to seek for.

Yea the way Arnold was talking about it was weird, but I thought that the Pump just naturally occurred after lifting some solid weight.
