Re: 75 150 stars o8
That game sure looked juicy when I was watching it earlier, two full tables going...
Anyways, my only advice is don't play the hand in a full table. It just sets you up for the trainwreck that you experienced. |

Re: 75 150 stars o8
Seems like a good example of why not to play that hand.
Counting only nut outs, the flop and turn seem to give you odds to call a single bet in each case. And you have quite a few outs to make a non-nut straight (and then non-nut flush on the turn). So, *if* I were playing this hand (which I wouldn't), I would play it the same way (including the unfortunate river raise most likely). You are right about opponents being bad though. Only good play in this hand came from The Cooker. Though yuanyuan at least seems dangerous... |

I am constantly amazed at yuanyuan's ability to still have money.

Re: 75 150 stars o8
Tommyboy - Your starting hand is not playable from any position - especially UTG - and certainly not for two bets.
Ten players were dealt cards, which means that there probably are some better lows out there, and also better highs. Middle cards are not good in this game, even if reasonably well-coordinated with a four and a trey, as here. Even without the one gap, (as 6543 or 7654), the hand is poor as a starter. But then you catch what at first may look like a reasonably nice fit with the flop. Well.... at least the five on the flop filled your eye-hole, and if you can just catch an ace on the river, you'll have a wheel. But there are two spades, and without an ace your hand is crap. A non-spade four or eight gets you a straight, but it's a non-nut straight. A seven gets you trip sevens, which might be good. An ace plus a seven? Might work. But only 12/990 ways to do it, about one per cent. The other 99% doesn't look very good. At any rate, if I was going to play this hand/flop, on the second betting round, I would bet. Instead you check call although there is a possibility of getting raised again. The turn is a blank (I don't count the new-found baby diamond draw as worth much, but you do like it that the jack is a diamond instead of a spade. And now you're kind of stuck in the hand. And that is what tends to happen with these types of starting hands. Then on the river you end up with the 3rd nut low (not very good) plus a possible tie for the 3rd nut straight (horrid). And then you check-raise. Well.... maybe you will get Yuanyuan, who has already checked, to fold. But then Yuanyuan also check raises! And Yuanyuan lays down 9c 8d Tc Qd, another unplayable starting hand (with which he raised before the flop), for the winner. Wow. Yuanyuan continued after this flop, needing a non-spade six or two running non-spade cards between eight and jack. Wow. Nine to one against Yuanyuan making a straight without the board also pairing or flushing in spades (and for only half the pot). But then Yuanyuan, possibly assuming no one else is damn fool enough to continue with a hand containing a ten-nine after this flop, or possibly to even play a hand containing a ten-nine before the flop, does play well on the fourth betting round. Interesting. Buzz |

Re: 75 150 stars o8
ya im doing well that hand is uncharacteristic of me to play was playin in another game that was short at the same time kinda got the games mixed up its clear its not a playable starting hand every under the gun thanks for the good advice the other players play much worse on later streets so sometmies i will make some looser calls preflop when other players limp most of them are pretty easy to put on a hand u think check raisin the flop is an option to clear the guys behind me and possibly give myself a decent chance at gettin the higher with 2 or 3 nut str8s?

cr the flop and clean up your wrap and two pair outs [/ QUOTE ] Except that this won't ever work against that lineup of fish. I think you played it perfectly postflop. Obv a god-awful call pre, vs. any lineup. Also a bad call UTG in a 6-handed game. |
