Then take all the money you're saving by stealing satelite TV and buy a damn TiVo.

I don't know much about the various cable tv offerings or tivo-like options, but I have a standalone tivo unit and it's definitely changed my life for the best over the last 4 years.

don't let price get in the way of the best option here.

Do you pay monthly or have the lifetime service?

Remember, "lifetime" means the lifetime of the unit, not of the human being purchasing it. When the thing dies in 2 years, you have to buy another "lifetime" contract.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't know Comcast offered it, but it would be an additional $20/mo. TiVo could do cable + satelite, right? Or can it only do one or the other?

I have lifetime. I'm not worried about the unit dying on me as I'd feel comfortable working on it (I build computers as a hobby). But for a non-techie, something like that could be a problem as you'd need to get another lifetime service for your new unit.

I second the advice of getting Directv. DVR is free for new customers. Wait until July and you can get the NFL sunday ticket package.
