Default 1st Daily Post: Fun w/ QQ

About a month ago I moved to Vegas and have been playing again for a living. I've decided I need to do more to evaluate my game, so I'm going to post a hand from every session I play.

Bellagio 30-60, 8 handed.

UTG is loose and bad, MP is an aggressive, slightly winning player, but is a tad LAGgy pf, also coldcalls too much. BB is a loose passive tourist, but not terribly bad - small losing player.

UTG limps, MP raises, folded to The Dude who 3-bets Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the CO. BB calls, UTG calls, MP calls.

Flop: (12.67 SBs) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. (4 Players)
SB donks, UTG folds, MP calls, The Dude raises. BB 3-bets, MP calls, leaving him exactly 1.5 BBs left. The Dude calls.

Turn: (10.67 BBs) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 Players)
BB bets, MP raises all-in. The Dude...?

Raises for value.

MP is on an especially wide range because he's out of chips. UTG will call the raise because the pot is big, and he is loose and bad.

And while you only have one pair, there's a decent chance that even if you don't beat MP, you're going to win the side pot with the loose-bad player who could easily have a high card flush draw, top pair, or some other nonsense. And if he happens to have two pair on that board, well you've got some outs to improve.

Oh, and if he re-raises again, it's not like it's a disaster. You're probably still ahead of his range.

UTG already folded on the flop.

Uh, what? UTG folded the flop so I doubt he's calling anything. And I can't think of a single hand we are beating if the loose passive tourist 3 bets the turn here, let alone being ahead of his range.

For sure. That said, I'd still raise the turn for value. If I got 3-bet by a loose passive tourist, I'd seriously consider folding, and definitely fold the river unimproved.

I'm confused, I didn't see SB action pre-flop, so I assumed he folded. I'll assume that flop "SB" action should read "BB".

on the turn - after mp re-raises all-in - you should re-raise for value. if BB has KK/AA/JJ oh well. he's a lot more likely to have a hand like AJ/A6/A4/AK/AQ/KQ/KJ/two diamonds. If he raises back, then call and call/check all rivers.

Raise/call, c/c is spew.

A loose-passives range is highly shifted away from a flush draw once he bet/3bets this flop. The only legitmate flush draws in his range are probably AKdd and A4dd, and these are also unlikely. A loose-passive also never has a single pair at this point unless it's exactly AJ. These are probably the only holdings I think we are possibly ahead of and we have outs against 2 pair, so I don't mind calling down from here.

If we are even thinking of raising the turn, we should just cap the flop. It gives us the possibility of taking a free card on the turn, let's us know much more about BBs holding if he leads the turn, charges MP who we're likely ahead of, and charges As and Ks from both players, and doesn't leave us vulnerable to another raise.

I'm definitely biased by the results when I say we should cap the flop, but I'm fine with just calling, and calling down barring a nasty turn/river.

? Does that mean you think we should fold to one bet on some rivers? Do you really think that?

You pretty sure about that? I strongly disagree.

I just call the turn. LAGs 3-bet the flop for value against preflop 3-bettors with a flush draw, not loose-passives. I think we're behind.

You can get to the river for 1.5 BB's. If he's passive enough, he might check two pair on the river when a diamond hits.
