Default How many adults...

Could you take on?

Let's assume they were given a crash course in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (I'm talking an hour or two of basics, tops).

They are "average" builds, like 5'9-6'0, around 155-200 lbs.

How many do you think you could take on if it were randomly generated adults?

The number you choose corresponds to the number that is spawned at one time. They are coming at you all at once. You are in a room with no walls or obstacles.

Let's make this a little more interesting:

What if you were given a non-projectile weapon (i.e baton, mace, bat, knife, sword)?

What kind of weapon would you pick? Why?

Then how many could you take on?

If you could choose one partner, living or non living given that he cannot wield a weapon, who would you pick?

I believe I could take on one given unarmed combat, and two with something like a baton or katana.

well, it's because I was thinking of the "x year olds..." post and wanted this to reflect that, but you're right and I've changed the title to reflect it.

the type of weapon you have would make a big difference. 3-4 people probably wouldn't even be able to get close to someone weilding a fast sword.. although if they had weapons it would obviously be different.

Ditto. I might get lucky with one and whack him before he gets the weapon out of my hand. And I'm pretty big: about 6'4 - 225, but I've got to think anyone of decent size trained in martial arts is going to kick my ass.

I think this is the key for me:

What do you mean by crash course? Anyone with serious training in most any martial art will take me apart before I could get my hands out of my pockets. If you're talking like 8 hours training they'd be so busy thinking their forehead will be on my knee before they can assume their first stance.

Unarmed, I think I'm an underdog 1-on-1 against anyone with real martial arts training or any real fighting/bouncing/boxing/wrestling experience. If the opponents are untrained and unexperienced I think I'd hold my own against 2 average adults. Three would probably be able to get the jump on me.

A knife has no stopping power. A mace might be slow against multiple opponents. I think the best choices are baton or sword. If we're all similarly armed I'd be over matched with more than 1. If I were the only one armed I might, maybe, would be able to take 3, but would only feel confident at 2 still.

If I had a partner, I've known some good martial artists in my time. With one of them along with me I think we could together take 6 or so average untrained adults.

I get to pick either Chuck Norris or Jack Bauer, that number rises to 1,000.

Oh wait. Jack Bauer without a weapon? 500 then for him.
