Sorry for being lax on the scoops... But I would agree with LFS that the insider consensus seems to be that Jake is straight. I dated a girl who was Maggie's best friend for a while (yeah I know, that sounds like one of those lame "my sister's roommate's cousin's teacher" things, but whatever) and she never got that impression. Also, the things Jake says in interviews (like about spending time on men's bathroom floors) sound really sarcastic to me, like he's just having fun with the media -- they do not seem like things someone who's trying to mask his homosexuality would say.

As for some blogger's rumors on the internet, well... not the most trustworthy source. (Though I guess you'd have to consider me and LFS also "random guy from the internet").

(Unrelated tangential gossip that I feel like sharing for some reason)

The girl in question (who I won't name) was an actress on a failed sitcom (it was a Roseanne rip-off; she was the Darlene role) that lasted like 5 episodes. She moved to New York to work in journalism and I haven't heard from her in a few years (which kills the "Hey, tell Maggie that Dids [edit: and Nath I guess] from 2+2 will make her happy"). And she didn't shave her legs, which was pretty gross.

You're talking to somehow who fondly remembers Union Square, It's Like... You Know... and many other shows that bombed inbetween Friends and Seinfeld. There's a decent chance that I knew and loved this show and probalby had a crush on your nasty ass non shaving ex-gf. (don't tell Maggie this part)

I think anybody, if asked to compile a similar list would come up with the same list.
