I would bet the turn.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd bet the flop. Someone please tell me why not?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm a donk, I bet flop here.

[/ QUOTE ]

My default play with no reads would be to check, but I don't think it's clear one way or the other. Depends on how much value I think I can get by betting the flop. Couple days ago, I lead from the sb in a limped 3 way pot with middle pair on an A73 flop. I got called by both limpers, who had 22 and 44. I certainly bet against these guys in this hand.

Another scenario - two players call, BTN is a good TAG player and the SB is a fish who doesn't like folding to c-bet. Fire away on this flop.

Default Re: Stupid AJo hand

This isn't a hand post more of a theory post. Last night on Stars 100nl it seemed like most players were 3 betting / 3 betting light pf like it was their job. I went back and counted and I was 3 bet pf 10 times in the first 75 hands, which is a lot from my experience. I did 3 things which I'd like comments on.

1. I got lucky and got KK otb the second or third time it happened on one table and was called after rr'ing allin.

2. After that, I started a mix of 4 betting or reshoving AJ+ and TT+. fwiw I never got a call and it somewhat slowed down the 3 betting.

3. I started calling with 44-99 and 9Ts+ and would c/r if oop on the flop or rr if in position, also never got called.

I rotated tables a few times and it was the same thing, all these donks 3 betting like there was a sign on my avatar telling them to do it.

So any comments on how to handle habitual 3 betters? It was happening with a frequency that folding would've become really bad in loss of $ and getting tagged as weak at the table.

I would usually muck this pf as I don't think there is much value playing a small suited ace OOP in a raised pot, at least with my current postflop skill level.

Here is when I normally play them:

- From position in a multiway limped pot. This gives you a cheap shot at seeing the flop with a lot of implied odds, plus with position you can better control the pot size and sometimes steal when you flop nothing.

- Open raise when it's folded to you in LP for obvious reasons

- Raise from the button (sometimes the CO) against a single limper that has a propensity to limp/call preflop and give up easy postflop

Other than these spots I usually muck them.

As played, I probably just call the CO reraise on the river although with their #'s I guess it could be two flushes.

Reads:
MP2 will call with a wide range any 6/T draw, over cards.
The button has a good hand, but I'm pretty sure he'd raise TT preflop.

Without the 8 of spades on the river - do you c/c?

Pot the flop and the rest pretty much writes itself. You'll get his stack, as soooo many players will call down any bets there with anything from the third nuts to middle pair. This is even more fun to do live, as people will be utterly dumbfounded that you flopped the nuts and bet it hard. They want to berate you but just can't seem to do anything but stammer as you stack their chips.
