This sounds like the Atkins diet. I did an extreme version of this in high school and my stomach is still messed up from it 6 years later. That's the thing that I def know it caused, but for all I know my kidney and liver are totally [censored] up from overworking them that hard.

I really really don't suggest using this as a way of losing weight. You're basically just forcing your body to work really hard to get [censored] from your mouth to your ass and starving it at the same time. Go for a [censored] run every day if you wanna lose weight.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't really know exactly what atkins diet consists of (never really cared to look in to it), can you expand on what they tell you to eat? Are there any supplements? Whats the meal plan like? Thx.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't do atkins exactly. It's just the same really really unhealthy basic plan of lots of protien to fill yourself up and keep muscle mass but no carbs.

I weighed like 120 lbs at the start of wrestling and here's what I ate every day:

Breakfast: 2 pieces of bacon, 3 eggs, a grapefruit and a bunch of celery sticks.
Lunch: A steak. A grapefruit and a bunch of celery sticks. Sometimes some broccoli as well.
Dinner: A steak. A grapefruit and a bunch of celery sticks and something extra that I'd choose with no carbs in it.. usually i just put the steak in some nasty broth and ate that cause I got weird cravings while on the diet.

I'd bring maybe another quarter pound of steak with me to school and eat it between classes.

The weekend after wrestling ended, I gained 15 lbs eating instant oatmeal til I was sick repeatedly. I still get random cravings for things with lots of carbs like bread with honey spread on it.

Again, the reason that this is incredibly unhealthy for you is because it [censored] up your liver and kidneys. You're feeding your body a ton of [censored] that it doesn't want and your kidneys and liver are working really hard to filter all that [censored] out. I know that what you're doing isn't as extreme as what I did, but it's still a really bad idea.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a pretty bad diet, and its not even close to what I am doing.

Atkins actually allows you to have bacon+eggs for breakfast? Do you realize how small the protein value of those food are, and how bad they are for your weight loss diet (okay, eggs are okay here and there as protein, but just realize they dont have much protein content, and dont do it every day).

You are 100x better off just having a whey protein shake for b-fast.

This is a totally standard diet for bodybuilders, and it works GREAT. The only problem is that you feel like total [censored] for the first week when you're carb depleting. Carb up days are the best things ever though, you just sit and eat pizza, bread, rice, etc. until you can't fit any more.

Congrats Tickner, perhaps hit the gym and you'll retain more muscle as you drop the next 20 lbs.

Yeah that does sound a little contradictory. lol.

Basically I mean its ok to eat eggs becasue they do contain protein and aren't all that bad for you, but I also want to point out they dont contain very much protein so your body is going to need more than just eggs in terms of protein for breakfast. But bacon = v bad for weight loss.

I don't think you're really grasping the whole low carb thing. Fat is kind of necessary.

Hmm, lol not the best dieting attitude there mate.

A few quick notes:

Eggs BV value is awesome, they're an awesome protein source.

230lbs, even at 180lbs of muscle mass you'd have 50lbs of fat at the start which is around 25% BF - thats high and 230lbs at 6ft even going by BMI is clearly overweight/noticeable. However friends and family, by default dont want to hurt you - They only say "wow you was a whale" once you've lost the 100lbs lol.

Your attitude to dieting seems a bit poor, your eating premade meals and depending on pills for vitamins/minerals. Where are your good fats(Omega 3's, 9's, 6's) and general mono/poly/sat balance?
Wheres the fibre in this diet?
Why are you even eating prepared meals, if your dieting why not burn calories by standing up and preparing your own food?

Honestly this diet is for a 40 year old women who wants to drop 30lbs for the week to impress her friends at bingo.

You've lost muscle and alot of water weight, carbs come with about 300% water weight per gram.

I'd get a good cardio routine(HIIT or steady paced, 45minutes fasted).
A decent resistance routine to grow and preserve your muscle(which you've lost) and finally a balanced diet consisting of small meals often based on solid foods such as low GI(Wholegrain/meal/wheat) carbs, good balanced fat profile(Mono/Poly/sats and omega 3:9:6 balance) and get minerals and vitamins from fruit sources and veggies which will give your body the fibre it needs.

finally alot of fluid intake, fibre is a sponge and sponges are hard to push through a hose pipe if they're dry.

Good luck buddy,
i'd advise you drop this diet though.

i'm sure someone can Tl;dr this and put it into BBV terms.

How can you be 6 foot weighing 230 pounds and no one around you notices that you are obese?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have more muscle than you?

[/ QUOTE ]

Even if 30 pounds of those 230 are muscle you are still overweight for your height.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. Not true. I'm 5' 9" and my lean body mass (weighed by a nutritionist using electrodes) is 167. In other words, if I had a zero pct. body fat, I'd weigh 167, due to muscle. I'm over 200 lbs and def. overweight, but when I weigh 190, I'm totally lean. So, being 6 feet and 230 isn't 'obese' if you actually have muscles (unlike almost all of the MTG geeks on this forum)
