Default The \"Big Game\"

Why would the big name poker superstars choose to play in the big game against one another? To the extent these folks (Brunson, Reese, Ivey, Negranu, et al.) are famous already and presumably able to sign big book deals and get endorsements, how can they justify the time it takes to pound on each other for no real profit?

Several ideas:

(1) Some of them are better players than others and are thus making more than "no real profit" by playing in the game.
(2) Ego.
(3) Gambling addiction.
(4) There are often non-"superstars" in the game, like $300/600 players taking a shot.

Sometimes you just wanna try your hand against the best.

I tell ya, if I suddenly won millions in the lottery or something, I'd take half a million and give it a shot.

I'd lose but I'd be able to tell everyone I played with the best there is.

I think Endorsments is the big reason. They get paid to play in some of those events, I would presume, considering they are walking bilboards. Also it is ego, think of all the players you know, how many of them have some sort of ego.

You don't have 300/600 players normally taking a "shot" in a 4k/8k game. You do however get a few of the mega rich guys like Dr Nasiri (HSP fame) and others that sit in from time to time. Btw, Farha is a huge fish in this game along with Gus Hansen.

I did mention that I would have to win millions first right?

If the money isn't going to mean anything to you, don't you think it would be cool to play with guys who are considered the best in the world?

Probably for the challenge? Kind of like Andy Beal's fish ass and his story.

There are a lot of multi-millionaires that can afford to blow money playing poker in a high stakes game. Not everyone in the game is good at poker.

Also, a lot of them think they're the best in the world.
