Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
Basically for value. Many bad LAGs think you're bluffing just as much as them or are trying to take a stand or whatever. Especially if it's low stakes, people call too much. Also, my river VB can be bigger by betting turn. And if he's really LAG'ish, i don't mind him CR'ing me.

Re: Interesting Hand (NLSNG)
I think if he was playing super aggressive, then he wouldn't have checked so much with a big hand. That being said, when a player like that does do a rare "check", it actually makes me nervous that they have a big hand and are slow playing. People try to be tricky like that, bet strong with weak hands and check big hands.
I think it's the classic "nuts or nothing" kinda hand. If he had a big hand, he wouldn't have checked the river, after your turn check. He would've led out since you checked on the turn and has to assume you would check again on the river. But yeah, the raise is either the nuts or nothing, and since he's been playing kinda crazy and bluffing a lot, I would assume he had nothing. If he was playing tighter, I would assume a big, big hand. I guess I'd make a crying call and expect to see ace high more often than a hand that beats yours. =) |

ok so how do I work out what his range needs to be for this to be a breakeven call? I am calling 785 to win 1325. So I need 29.6% equity against his range to make a breakeven call right? I did (785/1325)/2. I hope that is right. Messing with pokerstove now. If I give a range that doesn't include kings or monsters I am way ahead. I'm going to try giving him a more favorable range and seeing what the stove says. [/ QUOTE ] I make it that you need 37.20%. I did 785+ 1325= 2110 785/2110 *100 = 37.20% |

[/ QUOTE ] This is way off...better learn to do equity calculations if you want to be a balla. 1325/785 gives you the odds you need (1.687 to 1), the percentage thus is 100 divided by 2.687 or 37.21 |
