Fwoods 2-5 with AA
Noob here, my friend played this hand last week and I couldn't help him much.
Fwoods 2-5 NL, new table just started circa 30 mins before this hand, lots of people had been waiting to get on the table a long time, up to an hour and were impatient and wanted to gambool. He knew this. UTG limps for 5 Button limps for 5 Hero (A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) is SB and raises to 40 BB folds UTG calls the 40 Button calls the 40 Flop is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets 100 UTG folds button raises Hero all in for $400 more correct play is? If results matter, Button had 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and won obv. Thanks in advance |

Re: Fwoods 2-5 with AA
Tough spot. I play 1-2, and call all sorts of hands in position. While I usually get cursed out by the players with over pairs, after my trash turns into treasure. I still think to get stacked with one pair is borderline. That said on a J55 board, I think most get stacked with AA. It would require a read and some background with an opp to make a gut call that he might have a 5.
Did your friend think the guy was stacking off with something like JT? I got to imagine that AJ, would raise the button PF. At foxwoods anything is possible. |

Re: Fwoods 2-5 with AA
Results don't matter in this situation. Call all day long and be glad you are at a table where people call 8xBB raises with 57 soooooted.

Re: Fwoods 2-5 with AA
in a live game against many players i am very capable of folding here, due to the limp/call preflop.
if you don't have reads, its tough. |

You also see this play with JT, QJ, KJ, AJ quite frequently. Just the other day I saw AK, A4, A8 and T3os all-in pre-flop at a live game. Live SSNL is like the 0.05/0.10 tables. I'd need a hell of a read to fold. |

Re: Fwoods 2-5 with AA
He put him on flush draw with overs (A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], I asked the question because I'm not sure if I would have done anything different than what he did, that includes his Preflop action too. I suppose that QQ and KK are hands that the villain could have had and tried to be tricky with? I don't play much NL cash so I'm trying to learn too.
Would a villain play top pair in this fashion in this game? What % of the time are red aces good here? While railbirding these stakes at other tables, we saw some plays that I felt were insane, people calling 3 figure pot sized bets on the flop with only overcards, plenty of others calling their stacks off with less than top pair. I think the mentality of a player that has driven and/or waited for a table is often different than someone playing online that is in their comfort zone and did not have to wait a long time for a game. Plus there is a fair amount of booze in play too. |
