Default Advice about cbetting in 3bet pots please!

Heres an example of the situation I'm talking about:

Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
5 players
Converter

Villain is 16/11 over 400 hands

Stack sizes:
UTG: $48.64
CO: $49.25
Button: $49.25
Hero: $66.14
BB: $80.63

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG folds, <font color="#cc0000">CO raises to $1.75</font>, Button folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $5.5</font>, BB folds, CO calls.

Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($11.5, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks.

Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($11.5, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $7</font>, <font color="#cc0000">CO raises to $21.97</font>, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: $14.97 returned to CO.

Results:
Final pot: $25.5

My thinkin was that with these stats villain probably has a high PP or at least AQ.
I didn't like leading the flopbecause its too likely villain is ahead with his pair. If I checked and then villain checks I know I can cbet the turn because it is unlikely he checks the flop with a good hand. However is it too transparent to villain that i dont have much having not bet the flop.
Should I have just cbet the flop?
