Default Re: How should I play mid pockets?!?

I'm a noob, who likes to give his money away, but according somethings I have read, the best move in this situation is to raise enough to get isolation or at least trim the field and get rid of the those suited connector callers that bite you on the flop. It also defines your hand as well as others. If you 6 bet like Basementproject says, you know that whoever calls has two high cards, or a pocket pair. If you are in late position, and no one has led out, it is more likely that there are no pocket pairs higher than your tens, but you must beware of someone slowplaying aces or kings. The real question is what do you bet when the flop comes out without a ten, but also without anything higher than a 10 and everyone checks to you. Those decisions are what kills my stack.

I'm somewhat of a newb, but something I've noticed people haven't mentioned is stack size. I'm raising in an unopened pot almost all of the time and follow most of what has been said by others above on when/where, etc.

However, when I'm calling raises or 3betting a raiser it isn't only about my position relative to the raiser, but also the effective stack sizes. I like to make sure that I have implied odds for hitting a set(they have a healthy stack) or that the villian isn't just going to shove over me leaving me in a situation where I have to decide what to do (unhealthy stack).

So yeah, I'm not amazing at wording it, but make sure you are paying attention to the stack sizes of anybody in a pot ahead of you when you're wanting to set mine or play it as it stands.

This is not no limit he's talking about. He's asking a question about how to play limit hold'em. Stack sizes mean nothing in limit except for rare situations where opponents don't have enough bets to finish a hand and you're drawing.

Ah, my bad, didn't read that he was playing limit. I think I misread it as transitioning to NL.

Open-raise from all positions. You have a pot equity edge here.
3-bet from all positions. You're still good against many hands, notably AK, AQ and other overcards.
Raise the crap out of limpers in front of you.
