Default Car passes my house beeping EVERY night - what\'s my play?

This is kinda odd, but for a few weeks now, this car has passed my house beeping his horn just about every night. It's not just one beep, it's like 5-7 obnoxious beeps in a row. Our house is somewhat close to the road, so it's pretty damn annoying. I also have a toddler who is sleeping at that time and I don't want a d*ckhead waking him up with his horn.

Now a few nights ago, I noted the time when the car passed. It was 10:20pm. Last night, the car passed and beeped again at 10:19pm. WTF? What does this mean?

There are no houses across the street from me (there is a river across the road). I have a neighbor on either side, and at first I thought it was someone leaving a neighbors house, and beeping an obnoxious goodbye beep. But that doesn't make sense, since it's just about every night and it's the same time every night.

One other thing, is that we have new neighbors who moved in a couple weeks ago. Could this beeper be a friend of the new neighbors and he is beeping to say hi to them every night as he passes by?

Now that I have identified a pattern in the time, my plan is to sit outside in the dark tonight, at about 10:15pm, and wait. I want to start off by identifiying the vehicle, and seeing if it pulls out of a neighbors house or not. At one point I thought about egging the a$$hole as he beeped, but I don't want a confrontation in front of my house (don't need to make enemies with someone who knows where I live). Then I thought I would wait in my car in my driveway, and as he passed and beeped, I would then follow him to wherever he went.

So, I have identified a time pattern here, but I am not really sure what the next play is here. Any thoughts?

That's my point - I don't know what the best move is. That's why I posted the situation, to get some ideas.

Get a blow up doll. Throw it at the car as he passes. Hope he swerves and hits a telephone poll. Grab the blow up doll, go inside and relax.

People like this never wear seat belts.

Maybe this guy's horn is defective and just goes off at 10:20 every night.

Yes, that is what I plan on doing tonight. But if I get this, is it retarded to call the police and say “hey, this guys beeps every night in front of my house”? Can they do anything?

I don't think it's retarded. I'm assuming you live in a pretty residential suburb. Obviously if you're in a major city they're not going to do anything, but this is what cops in the suburbs do.

And play the 'sleeping baby' card. It can only help.
