Opinion please: T9s
I'm sorry. I have no software to import hands and not even sure how to get my history. But I really want to know this:
3 people left. BB 400. I have about 3000 chips, the others have about 5000 chips. I'm SB, UTG folds. I have T9s. Shove? |

Re: Opinion please: T9s
T9s is just too pretty looking to fold.
But yes, shove it in and like doing it. |

Re: Opinion please: T9s
I liked doing it. I didn't like the result, but that's irrelevant. I'm trying to teach my friend how to play, so he was watching me play. He still doesn't believe I did the right thing. He thinks he beat people here at Bodog 2.20s.
Anyway, I will continue shoving T9s in that situation. I was pretty sure it was the correct move. Thanks for reaffirming it. |

Re: Opinion please: T9s
It's very hard to come up with a range for BB that makes this play -EV. At the worst, it will be VERY -EV, and even that will require a very specific calling range for BB that isn't necessarily good / typical / what you would expect to be up against.
Against the vast majority of opponents who are in the BB, this shove will be +EV (because it's +EV against most calling ranges and against pretty much any reasonable calling range) and therefore you should make it. I'd highly recommend investing in some ICM software (see stickies) and figuring out questions like this for yourself. Learning why a play is good or bad, looking at factors that affect the analysis, etc. is vastly superior to having 10 or so people simply say "shove". |
