Serious Question
Is it possible for someone who knows very little about baseball teams, players, and stats to prepare starting now and have a successful season betting baseball games?
If so, what is somethings that this person should be doing to get his knowledge ready to be able to bet games? Are there any sources for someone looking for info on baseball games? Is it possible to make money betting baseball? polo |

Re: Serious Question
If you know so little about baseball, why did you choose baseball to bet on?
By the way, "Sports Betting" by Jim Jasper has a system in it for betting baseball. It requires a fair bit of work ( what do you want? Baseball is played every day of the week.) bu I think it's a slight moneymaker. Anyone else on this board read that book? It's from the '70s. |

Re: Serious Question
As some of the main baseball guys on here will tell you. Betting on baseball in nothing more than a math problem. Look at the line, figure out the chances of a team winning at bet accordingly

Re: Serious Question
How do you get an accurate probability of a team winning? Is it a lot of work?

How do you get an accurate probability of a team winning? [/ QUOTE ] This is where the debate begins If you have an accurate probability baseball betting is easy as can be. Determining what that accurate probability is is what matters and it can be very subjective. There are many methods and ideas and all are debatable and subject to interpretation. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know if Jasper's system still works, but book lines have generally gotten tougher since his book was written. Some of his other methods aren't nearly as successful as they may have been back when he wrote them. That should be no surprise. [ QUOTE ] Anyone else on this board read that book? Re: Serious Question
I don't see a lot of discussion on methodology on these boards. Obviously if I had a great system worked out and was able to crank a mad ROI I wouldn't be sharing it on a public board. But what types of methods or literature do people use? Do you just draft a spreadsheet and punch it in?
