Not cbetting flops vs calling stations no matter the position
Lately I've been checking hands down vs calling stations when i don't hit the flop and what usually happens is they end up betting the river and me folding. My question is if i should only do this OOP or if i should do it at all. I play nl5.

Re: Not cbetting flops vs calling stations no matter the position
I don't think there's anything wrong with playing fit/fold against calling stations. There's different types of calling stations you need to consider though:
1. The calling station who calls 80% PF and 20% post flop. Against these, continuation betting is key since they hold garbage most of the time, and are themselves playing fit/fold. i.e. they will fold anytime they missed the flop. You should be cbetting them, and value betting your strong hands because they're likely not going away (OMG I MADE A HAND OMG OMGOMG) 2. The calling station who plays 80% pre flop, 80% post flop. Against these, cbetting is useless. He's not paying attention, he is clicking call. Mind you, against these, I will often get it in even with bottom pair or AK on dry boards, but I will not do a standard cbet, to me AK/bottom pair = the nuts against them |

Re: Not cbetting flops vs calling stations no matter the position
I might bet half pot on the turn with ace high or a pp if I think it's good after checking the flop. If I feel like I'm playing good then I'll do it, if not I just let it go.

Re: Not cbetting flops vs calling stations no matter the position
With calling stations who are passive post-flop, a great line to take (I think) is raising pre with AT+, and then just hunkering down and checking if you have no hand. You'll win most of the time since you'll be ahead of their range.
