Re: 600NL - I get myself into trouble with 2nd pair + nfd vs a donkey.
[ QUOTE ]
Even your stats have him as pretty aggressive, so why DID you bet the turn if you don't know what you want to do here? I'm only asking in this way because your post asks whether to call or not, not about the original bet. [/ QUOTE ] I bet the turn with the intention of calling a raise (though I really didn't expect a raise here). I showed it to a friend who I think is a good player, and he said the turn is an easy check and he made it sound like it's a clear fold as played. That made me doubt myself, so I posted it looking for other opinions (on the bet, and the call). |

I'm going with the mob. Check the turn. Happier rivers to come.

[ QUOTE ]
I like checking the turn. There are several good reasons to do so: 1. We are not missing out on value because we can VB the river if he checks again which he will often call lighter (I would not be betting river UI here). [/ QUOTE ] what? |

Re: 600NL - I get myself into trouble with 2nd pair + nfd vs a donkey.
[ QUOTE ]
I bet the turn with the intention of calling a raise (though I really didn't expect a raise here). [/ QUOTE ] I think the problem with this thinking is that although he doesn't check/raise very often, he doesn't check/call very often either. So most of the time he folds or you get blown off your draw (if you bet/fold). You might get value from TT or JJ but they're unlikely to check/call two streets anyway. [ QUOTE ] but he's not betting any river because he's not betting the river unimproved? it just seems like he's contradicting himself. maybe i'm not reading it correctly or something, who knows [/ QUOTE ] He means if villain check/calls the turn then we probably can't bet the river UI. In other words it's unlikely we get two streets of value with second pair. |

MrHoobris has it covered, and it's easy to say this since the guy shoved on you, but I like a turn check, especially against a guy who is going to bet the river like 90% of the time.

No, what i wrote there was pretty confusing, but mustmuck nailed it. Basically we just can't get two streets of value.
