I know it's the bible belt and all ... but this is messed up ... he didn't even SIIHP
"Genarlow Wilson, whose 10-year prison sentence for having consensual oral sex with a 15-year-old when he was 17 was voided by a judge earlier this month, is not eligible to be released on bail while the state appeals his sentence, a judge ruled today. The ruling, which came just days after investors announced they'd post a $1 million bond for Wilson, likely means Wilson will remain in jail for several more months. The Georgia Supreme Court is scheduled to hear his case in October."

There is so much misinformation about this case it's crazy. The media have latched onto it and basically have painted this kid out to be a saint who engaged in some voluntary act of sex with 15 year old and now is in jail 10 years.
The full story: The kid was at a hotel party with a bunch of other kids, video camera present. One of the girls there was basically passed out drunk. The guys there took turns having sex with her. They also received oral sex from a different girl at the party. The next morning the girl who was passed out in the video called home and stated she had been raped. The police investigated and the video tape was found. The boys were charged with rape of the girl, as well as the other crimes (the underage sex one and such). The boys were ultimately acquitted of the rape charge, but the jury clearly felt the guy should be punished (the girl was VERY out of it in the video, basically unconscious) so they used the other charges to do so. Does the kid deserve 10 years in jail?
