Default Awkward Spot with KQ in PCA DS

PokerStars NL Hold'em Tournament - 50/100 Blinds (8 handed)

Starting Stacks
Seat 1: MP (T3235)
Seat 2: LP (T1015)
Seat 3: CO (T1645)
Seat 4: Button (T975)
Seat 5: Small blind (Hero) (T1450)
Seat 6: Big blind (T1390)
Seat 8: UTG (T1775)
Seat 9: UTG+1 (T2015)

So it folds to me in the sb with my stack. The bb is NomoBaller who is decent. How do you play KQ here with my stack? I dont think I can just open fold this but I don't think I can just call this either and be forced to play it out of position. I don't think I can 3x it either because the last thing I want is him to reshove. Is my play 5x it or open shove maybe? Weird.

Roothlus,

Check out this thread.

It has a few different ways of playing a similar hand.

In your scenario I like bet/call just because it is winner take all.

I think bet/call, Open push and limp shove are all fine here.

i'll typically limp here and wouldn't mind jamming if he raises.

I really dont like raising 5x, and I dont think open shoving is great either. Both limp/pushing and raise/calling seem ok, I'd lean towards limp/pushing unless you think a 3x raise will make him push with worse than KQ

Raising 3x, followed by a call and an A on the flop would be worse in my opinion. Limping and pushing against a raise would be my top candidate. Since he's short himself, chances are he'd push to pick up the 200 in the pot. If this happens, his pushing range is probably wide enough for you to call safely.
