Default 4-8

Can a winning 20-40 player averaging who average 20/h beat a live 4-8 game filled with tards with a five dollar drop for anything. If so what maybe .25/h lol.

Who cares, if they are beating 20/40 for $20 an hour they are terrible anyway.

I'm confused...if you can beat 20/40 for a profit, why wouldn't you be able to beat a much smaller game? Do you think the bad play at $4/8 will somehow decrease it's profitability?

Pick up a copy of Small Stakes Hold'em.

The overabundance of weaker players make up for the rake by far. One extra big bet that wouldn't be called at the 20/40 pretty much eliminates the heightened effect of rake plus jackpot drop.

I played a little 4/8 limit last night that was averaging 7 or 8 players to the flop every hand.

Weak loose-passive bad players and I don't believe a single one of them was actually competent. Couple of them were tilting pretty badly.

I think they could rake $10/hand on such a table and it would still be beatable by a good player. No, I'm not kidding. And no, I'm not trying to give the Horseshoe-Tunica any ideas.

If the average pot-size is in the 10BB+ neighborhood than a 0.75BB rake (4, +1 for JP, +1 for tip) isn't going to be enough to make it unbeatable.

Weak-tight 4/8 games will be more affected by the steeper rake of course but I think those games are beatable too.

Now 3/6 and 2/4 limit are different stories. The rake gets to be much more of a factor on those games and any win-rate you are able to get will be swallowed up by the rake signficantly more.
