Default horrid tournament conditions

Ok so I live in colorado were all of our tournaments have 20 minute rounds, each round the blinds double they usualy start at 25 - 50 and dont end until 4000 - 8000 begining stacks are usualy 2500. Now to my point when ever you try to raise someone seems to want to push all in no matter how far into the tournament you are, forcing a coin flip situation in most cases. Does anyone have suggestions on how to take down a tournament like this.

My own opinion on this is to wait for JJ+. I don't like AK in these situations unless I am the one re-raising all-in. Play position a lot. If there are only you and blinds, press the issue. If you are not first all-in, just fold.

If you can actually see a flop, play all hands that have a potential to make a big one. The implied odds are huge

Is it a state law or something that "all tournaments have 20 minute rounds.....". First if you don't like this structure either suggest something different or don't play. Otherwise realize that it's pretty much a luck fest and enjoy yourself.

At the end of an hour the blinds are 100-200 and at the 1:20 mark jump to 200-400. At this point in the tournament if you haven't pretty much doubled your stack you have no room to play post flop. So it's just shove and pray. And you're not going to double your stack in the first 45-60 minutes unless you you get involved in some big pots. You need to take some big risks early to get the chips to survive. So you have probably about 30-35 hands, if your lucky, to build your stack. After that it's "all in, baby"

Good luck (you'll need it). If you think you're the better player, then busting out early and getting a good side game going might be where the real action is.

10 minute rounds and 1500 in starting chips at some of the tournaments around here. You HAVE to win coinflips to make the money in these.
