Default Short Stacks In BB/SB to your button/CO raises

What is your raising range on the button/CO when folded around to you when the BB/SB has a short stack(20bb or less)?

Still depends on their stats, I'll continue stealing with all sorts of crap if they're a nit, but against an unknown I tighten up to only hands that have showdown value that I'm willing to call their allin with. IE a,j+ and maybe 7,7+

edit: who am I kidding, I think I still end up stealing with all sorts of crap even against an unknown, but it might be a leak of mine.

Both of them? If they look to be proper shortstack players, ATC. x4BB raise.

If they are 'proper' shortstackers, we know they will be folding a bunch. Therefore we should raise a bunch.

This is an area of the shortstackers' strategy that is extremely exploitable.

However, instead of raising 4bb I prefer 3bb. The villian is going to push and fold the same range no matter what the bet size is. So 3bb steals just as many blinds as 4bb. But we save 1bb those times that villian pushes and we have to fold.

I have been starting to do that every now and then on my button raises with shortstacks....open up with 3x instead of 4x.

Here's 3 I just did in a row on a VPIP:17% table to illustrate the use of ATC in the right table/spotm (not to shortstacks, just to nits in general) - (PS. This was actually more like a 10% table, but there was another LAG at it, on my right, that brought the VPIP up):

And here's how to handle a stealer on your right who thinks x3BB is enough to take it down:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($9)
UTG+1 ($8)
MP1 ($94.80)
MP2 ($49.65)
CO ($54.80)
Hero ($70.70)
SB ($28.85)
BB ($50)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $1.5</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $5</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, CO folds.

Final Pot: $7.25
