That show is unwatchable! I tolerate all of the poker shows somewhat (some more than others), but this crap just blows.

Also, they gotta get rid of that "no cursing" rule, but since its in the rules...no sympathy brah!

its a stupid rule but it was in play, the players were told about it before the show. Hard to feel bad for a dumb ass.

If you've ever spent any time in the military, you'll realize how hard it is not to curse. I've cut back a lot, but it still slips now and then. My girlfriend gets mad at me on a daily basis for saying something that I shouldn't have in front of her niece/nephew

I saw this match too. I thought the end was a complete joke.

The tourney director knew the blinds and the game structure. The penalties were basically saying

"You lose, he wins, because your cursed"

plain and simple.

The fact the tourney was winner takes all makes it all the worse, because the guy didn't even get a 2nd place prize.

You're in a freaking casino, where everyone is 21+, there are posters of half naked girls on the walls, everyone is drinking, and you aren't allowed to say something a little crude? Completely retarded.

The words weren't even directed AT anyone. They were said more as like a "darn it" would be used.

There IS probably a written rule about not using abusive language or cursing, but the tourney director has discretion. Very much how refs in sports don't want their calls to decide a game in the final minutes so they "let them play" more.

Saveage is a tool, that is all.

As for the other player, I can't BLAME him for playing fast or even calling attention to the fact the guy cursed a 2nd time... but still this was probably not the classiest move on his part.

This is another dismissive, short-sighted post that Rottersod just answered very well:

People react in different ways to pressure and I'd bet a lot of money that this was the first time this guy had ever been doing something where he was being filmed and sitting under hot lights and playing for money.

i didnt see the HU match, or any of it for that matter, and i generally think that swear words are harmless (even if said to me, and not in a frustrated manner).

with that said, if you get put on the brink of elimination because you drop an f bomb, then work your way back to almost even, how in the world can you drop another obscenity? i guess its easy to blame the tourney director, and he probably handled it poorly (definitely the first time, thats a ridiculous penalty), but what are you going to do? keep letting him swear and pretend its not a rule?

Simply appalling. Any idiot who puts a swearing (rather than abuse) rule into a poker tournament in the first place wants shooting and Matt should have had the courage to rule in the best interests of the game, rather than ruining the entire tournament.

FYI- in this case it is not me that created the no swearing rule for this show it was FSN's standards and practices but I am the one that has to enforce it. Each week we have a player dinner in which all the players are told about the no swearing rule and then I remind them before the show begins. Yes, on most shows it can be edited but with the Poker Dome format almost every hand is shown and in some cases every hand is shown. Do you really think I wanted to end this guys tournament and a chance at $1,000,000 on a penalty?

BTW, The TDA and I have just changed this rule so that something like this will never happen again. I was the one that came up with the idea and 116 TD's and CRM's voted to adopt a new rule. See www.pokertda.com rule #7 and you will see that on his first offense he would have received 2 missed hands and on the second offense 4 more hands which is much more fair. I am on of the TD's that does not even have a "F-word" penalty in my other events including televised events. This show is edited completely different than most and turned around in 24 hours.

is this something that was impossible to enforce on the fly? you must have known that 5 minutes would have killed his chances, couldnt you have given him a smaller penalty without drastically changing the outcome?
