I'd call the river. For one, I think it is often a 3 barrell trying to push us off Ax.

this was pretty much my thinking. my hand looks a lot like some kind of weak Ax like A5, or (less likely) a stubborn Qx. there's no reason for him to think that i have a big enough hand to call an overbet, so there's no reason for him to shove if he does have a big hand.

it would take a lot of stones to call the push with A5, but since i could beat a weird range-merging shove from a hand like AK, i called.

I can find a fold on that river. I think there is a good chance he has a set. Not that many people overbet bluff like this. If I was going to bluff in this situation I would probably bet 3/4 pot rather than shove.

I don't get it, why are we ruling out A8/A7/AQ/87 or all the sets?

My initial thought was fold. But the more I think about I call. I think villain is bluffing a lot here.

This is either a stone cold bluff or Top Two or better.
I like a fold here. Also fold preflop

i'd fold here given the tenuous information you provided as to preposterous, but given my own read of preposterous i'd call sometimes. preposterous has a strange style and you have to play with him for a while to get a feel of what he's capable of. you have to figure out if he's overbet shoving this river vs you with KT or not, because if you haven't seen or suspect him of doing it against you (or anyone else) yet then i'd let it go. preposterous is notorious for some of these weird plays.

wrp101: we're not ruling out those hands.
