More than the actual hand, I'm interested where you got this read of Jordi:

[ QUOTE ]
He plays a pretty semi-tight passive style, not a nut-pendler though. Basically, he calls a fair amount PF, but rarely gets out of line postflop.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not a nut-peddler? I think he honestly might be the very nittiest 1/2 regular on all of Stars. I've got almost 3,000 hands on him and he has a WTSD of 17.86.

As for the hand, I probably smooth-call the flop and wait for a safe turn. Jordi has at least naked T7 here the vast majority of the time when he leads out and if UTG has a set, you can punish him a lot better by trapping him in the middle on the turn than by just rehitting this on the flop.

As played, you're in a really awkward spot as you're going to be up against JT7x a fair amount (the JT combo I'd be most worried about by far), but I think you could easily be against something like T98x as well. I'd probably make a reluctant call, but I wouldn't feel good about it at all, and I think it's a pretty neutral EV decision either way.

I have played against Jordi off and on for at least 3 years. He has always been a pretty huge nit. VS any other player its probably a fold anyway as you only beat a bluff.

why cant he have 1000 other combinations of JTxx?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, for example should a tight villain be expectorated to play TJQx?

I don't have that many hands with him, but I agree, he might be a bit tighter than what may be interperated(someone spellcheck plz) by my OP.

Because I misread the hand and thought that TJ only has a gut shot.
So you are right, even a tight player will call the flop raise most of the time with OESD.

It doesn`t change my original idea though that you shouldn`t bet the turn if you are not calling a raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

Could someone elaborate on this a bit more? Why can't I bet/fold for protection/value, and fold if he raises, since I don't think a tight villain is bluffing/turning his hand in to a bluff enough of the time...

After reading the posts about the villian, I guess the fold is warranted.

Betting the turn is probably smart since i think top or even middle set won't necessarily reraise on the flop, but would bet out on the flop.
