Deeper stacks than normal with AK, repopped $4.40
I have him at 13/9. Had seen him show down AA and 1010, had not seen him 3bet. I had been tight as usual. Do I just call here and play it out? I couldn't see 3betting really being good here, should i have been?

Re: Deeper stacks than normal with AK, repopped $4.40
I don't like playing OOP much any more. The 66% of the time you miss the flop, the hand is very hard to play. Do you think AQ or AJ is in his range? Doesn't sound like it. He may have JJ or TT and if you miss but a Q hits the board you could steal. But that could be costly if he has QQ+.
Being OOP and having only lost 3BB out of 60 would allow me to let this go. If it was suited, it might be a little closer adding in the chance of flopping the flush draw or the A or K. But even then, I'd want to be deeper. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think it was Phil Ivey that said 'never fold AK preflop in an online tourney.' He just called and said he changed his mind. U raised UTG+1, got called by MP1...then a guy playing 13/9 3-bets to 350??? I let this go without much thought. Folding > Calling > 4-betting |

Re: Deeper stacks than normal with AK, repopped $4.40
With your read I'ld put villain on QQ+,AK. I think that if you call, MP1 is most likely calling too, so you'ld be calling 200 into 925. I don't mind a call here, as you are getting the right odds (even tough you should probably check/fold non AK flops). If an A or a K hits I would C/R and call a shove.
Folding is also fine. |

I'd call and see a flop, then check fold if I don't hit.

Re: Deeper stacks than normal with AK, repopped $4.40
MP3 repops to 350 is a very small reraise which would have me worried. Id say call and see a flop, the re-evaluate. What kind of player is he? If he seems like he knows what he's doing I would proceed with extreme caution (hope for an Ace and if not then possibly let it go), but there are a lot of bad players in 4.40s so it could be many hands here also. No need 2 go broke pre but I can't see myself folding here either.

Re: Deeper stacks than normal with AK, repopped $4.40
You can call with pot odds of 1:4! (assuming MP1 joins us) - so at least calling is mandatory here.
The problem is you have to play AK out of position and if you miss your A or K you have to let the hand go - still you hit in about 30% and get pot odds of 1:3,5. You will mostly be up against QQ+,AK but you can see this soft-squeeze move sometimes with worse holdings too. And even against this tight range you have about 39% equity = 1:1,56 - with pushing you get pot odds of 1:1,25 - so if we assume this range pushing isn't an alternative here. Still I would call and reorientate on the flop. |
