what do you guys think of this line

this line really surprised me, trying to figure it out. hero is a young regular in the bellagio 30/60 (for all I know he's one of you guys - I ended up seeing a lot of 2+2ish lines from him during the trip).

villain is me. we haven't played a lot together though so we're mostly unknown to each other at the time.


bad player limps, villain raises in the CO, hero raises KhKd in the SB, BB folds, limper calls, villain calls.

flop is T72 all diamonds
hero bets, limper folds, villain calls

flop is 8 diamonds
hero bets, villain calls

river is an offsuit Q
hero checks, villain thinks for a few seconds and bets, hero calls.

You should have heard from the A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on the turn (or earlier). You're good here. A check raise is correct.

There's little motivation for him to give you a cheap river look if he has the nuts.

q is a bad card for him if he's holding say JJ, 99 or AK, and people generally freeze up on the river so they like to check there, but with KK that is all the more reason to checkraise.

It's bad and I think doing anything but bet/call the river is terrible unless he has you pegged as an agro payoff station in which case a c/r starts to look better.

I think you're right.Like Chris Daddy Cool said,"they like to check here".So it looks like it's too risky to try for the check-raise because the likelyhood of a check-behind is too great.

villian's hand looks like a marginal diamond. how can he not bet if we check the river :-)
