Default Venetian Poker Rate?

I go to Vegas a few times a year. I'd like to start building a relationship with the Venetian so I can get better pricing on rooms, comps, etc.

I call their no-help reservation line and it goes like this:

Me: "Do you have any rooms available for Saturday?"

Them: "Yes Sir"

Me: "Can I get the poker rate?"

Them: "Are you a players club member?"

Me: "I will be as soon as I arrive. Can I get the poker rate?"

Them: "It depends on your play"

Me: "If I put in the required hours, can I get the rate for that night?"

Them: "No"

Me: "Really?? No?"

Them: "No"

Me: "OK. Thanks for nothing"

Can any Venetian regulars chime in here? Am I stupid or are they stupid? Its a huge difference between the $499/night they quoted me and the published Poker Rate.

Thanks.

IF they are telling you that you can't get the rate for that night, then you probably cannot get it. Seemingly the rate is 499, then the poker rate is most definately not going to be available. Poker rates are only available if rooms are available. If casinos, such as the V are booked out with conventions, no go on the rate. Stay over at the TI or Mirage for less than the V's poker rate (using regular rate at either).

I booked a room for later this month. Before I booked it I emailed the poker room and a guy called me the next day saying all I had to do was get the Players card and play 6 hours a day and the rate would be adjusted upon departure.

Instead of calling reservations, call the poker room. That worked for me getting the poker rate at the Wynn.

I called their poker room last week and was told that the poker rate was available only when the prevailing room rate was lower than $400.

The Poker Room straightened this out for me via email. Quick and professional response.

If you sign up on the hotel's web site you will recieve numerous emails with offers for reduced rates (no strings attached) and other promotions. I got one a few weeks ago offereing suites at a very reduced rate (I think $199 but don't rememeber the specifics)

It only works on times that are not busy, but if you select a five star hotel on price line for center strip area, it will be Venetian. I found rooms during non busy times(IE late November/December weekdays) as low as $89 there.

I found the same un-helpful attitude at the Venetian. First, make sure you talk to the poker room, not just the reservations line. Second, until they know you they'll book the room at the regular rate. When you leave, they'll confirm that you played the required number of hours and only then will they give you credit for the poker discount.
By the way -- the last time I was at the Venetian,it was not very crowded.
