Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
Commerce Live 10/20NL
Effective stacks $4000 OP1 raises in MP to $90 (Super LAG) Hero calls with As7s on CO OP2 calls on BN (New Player) Flop - Js8sTs OP1 - leads for $200 Hero - Calls (playing for stacks mentality - flame away) OP2 - Calls Turn Js8sTs9s (I now have the idiot end) OP1 - Leads for $300 Hero - Raises to $1200 OP2 - Flat calls (Hero vomits) OP1 - Folds River - Js8sTs9s4s Hero - Checks This is the part I'm wondering about. I certainly am not folding a Straight Flush, but leading and getting raised is not an attractive outcome here. Is this a wise check/call situation? Even if he pushes, I'm calling so is it better to value bet? OP2's flat cold-call on the turn made BIIIIG sirens go off in my head. Finding out if the Qs was out there was the reason I raised there to begin with. I felt gross afterwards. Not only wallowing in my weak-tightness, but like I somehow managed to get out of Bubba's cell without getting raped. Actual Results: OP2 Checks behind and tables 9h9d for a set on the turn. Hero wins. Table is amazed. |

Re: Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
if he has the higher straight flush, your gonna end up paying him off anyways so you might as well bet. A set or a Ks will flat call your turn raise, so i think his range is much wider than just the Qs. only the Ks will call a decent bet, so i would probably make it 1000.

Re: Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
I dont think I could lay down a straight flush for 200BB. I didnt want to be in that spot, so I checked.
My read would have been dependent on his river bet. A small value bet from OP2 (think $1200-$1600) would be scarierier than a poosh. If I bet, the only hand that calls is winning. |

Re: Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
Villan is either coldcalling with the Qs or a set hoping to fill up. How is betting here good? What about the way you played the hand is going to make villan think we're bluffing and call with Ks? Right now from villans point of view it looks like you have As and are scared of the straight flush and is probably check/calling most river bets. Seeing that villan is completely unknown it's reasonable to not expect him to try and bluff in this spot.
Therefore, check/fold is the best line here and it's not even close imo. |

He is a SAPP
Standard Armenian Poker Player. I was hoping for a push from him. That would give him 0% chance of having the Qs. edit: Followed by him table talking and saying "You should fold. I have the nuts. I show" |

Re: Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
i dont see a reason for raising on the turn, you have the ace too so theres no hand that can pay you off. and if you are ahead they are both drawing dead anyway.

Re: Live 10/20NL - Idiot end of Straight Flush
You got the 3rd nuts, blocks the 4th nuts, and simply cant fold because u got a straight flush? This is like the highstakes idiot version of the lowrollers who cant fold kings on an a-hi flop or a straight on a monotone 4card-board.
Easiest C/F on river as played. Fine played tho. K |
