Default Three blinds???

I know some B & M's have NL games with 3 blinds but does anyone do this in a home game? How do you structure the blinds? Why?

ps. Does anyone know the typical structure for 3 blinds ( eg. SB,SB,BB; SB,BB,BB)? Who puts out the 3rd blind?

once in a while, I'll see this. usually it's staggered (1,2,5) and the dealer puts in the first blind, then the normal blinds post as well. They used to do this in the 80's (and maybe earlier) to instigate more action. There was a lot more cheating back then too. We don't really have a need for it now. Sometimes, we will do a round where there is a mandatory straddle (min 2x the big blind to whatever you want). But that is still rare.

Wouldn't this be like a straddle.

SB,BB,UTG=2xBB.

If UTG puts it out then it's pretty much a straddle. Just UTG is no longer UTG...lol. But if I remember correctly it's usually the button that posts a blind which is either like a half SB, so you get like 1/2/4 or a full SB so you get 2/2/4 (normal BS/BB here is 2/4). Button acts in turn so this type of structure really encourages play by the button.

I'm just wondering if I should give it a try. Hosting a ss NL game in a couple of weeks. Blinds are .15/.25 and curious what impacts putting another SB on the button might have. So we'd have blinds of .15 (on button)/.15/.25

It would encourage the button to play properly.

Traditionally lowball and hold'em played with 3 blinds have one on the button and PLO played with 3 blinds have them all 3 to the left of the button.
