Default Things to say that induce folding.

This is my first post here but a long time reader. I had a huge hand yesterday go down in a 5/10 NL game where my opponent had 10J on a J6394 board. I had AK and was caught in a bluff and had to fire a 3rd barrel out of position to win the pot. I try not to talk during crucial pots but feel that one or two convincing lines and this inexperienced player would have mucked. He nearly had his cards in the muck and decided to call. He was not a very good player and I feel if I had one or two lines to throw at him he would have folded. I am interested in any lines you players may use to induce folding and convincing your opponent you have a made hand. Thanks in advance.....

My two cents:

Completely situation dependent. For example:

Let's say you yell out "You call, it's gonna be all over, baby!"

Depending on what level your opponent is thinking on, his previous play, your table image, his tiltiness, stack sizes, etc., he may raise, or he may fold.

I think you need to figure out what level your opponent is operating on: Weak = Strong or is it Strong = Weak? This makes a huge difference in what you say to induce a fold. I’m sure that you can see how if you make the wrong choice, you’re screwing yourself and likely to induce a raise instead of a fold.

I hope that I’m wrong and over analyzing. Maybe there is some magic phrase that will ensure (or at least greatly increase the odds of) a fold. If there is, I’d like to know.

Edit:

Unless i'm 80% sure that saying something will induce a desired behavior, I keep my mouth shut.

That being said, I have found that one tactic that works fairly decently (against mediocre players) is eating or drinking after you make your bet. grab your food (if there's food service) or drink and act as uninterested as possible. Certainly not a sure thing, but against some opponents, it's helpful.

I prefer this type of tactic to talking.

It's probably best that you don't count on inexperienced players folding top pair. Even if you bet all 3 streets. And if you don't bet the turn then you won't feel the need to bluff the river as much. Nothing you say or don't say will influence them more than "I have top pair! I call!!"

They would rather call river with top pair and lose then fold and think that you might have just bluffed them, because being bluffed just one time would mean that they are bad at poker.

I know of a very good line that works a VERY high percentage of the time if you have the right image. Lets say you're playing in a game with some pretty good and observant players. So far, you have shown down very weak hands. By chance, you have created an image that your a donk, calling-station ect. Now, if your opponents are observant, when you get in a big hand say "Well, it's time to go home anyways." and move all in (if its appropriate given the pot size. Dont do this play if ur all-raise is 50x the size of the pot =]) I guarantee if your image is donkish and your opponents are fairly good, they will fold everytime unless they have a monster hand.

A.C- I could not agree more with your take on it. I had the same evaluation after the hand.

Train-I try not to establish a donk image but if I do get caught doing something stupid that line is a good one to use after u have that image. In fact I have used it a couple of times in tournaments and it has worked in every instance I can remember.

I did this once in a tournament.

I was all-in. And this guy was really thinking bout calling. I had a 2 overcards and a open enden straight draw, but I did not want him to call. He was still thinking about it. And then I heard him say: I'm thinking bout calling. And I was like: You calling? Grapped my cards and wanted to turn them over. And when he saw how fast I wanted to turn my cards, he folded.

Yeh, donks wont fold. however when you come across people who can make any kind of laydown, this may work.
It occurred last night.

I raised pre, flop came out he checked, i bet he raised..I had air and pushed....As he was in the tank I said "cmon man, you know what I have" He said "Yeah, lol" and folded..try it?
