You know, I think this is pretty good actually. The only hand you are really worried about (except for lightning striking) is A9. Other hands are bluffs, and even those that are bluffs with made hands are beat by you.

Ok, maybe J9 too.

Depends on the table. If everybody is a nit it's good for stealing the blinds. (ATC will do, but you can't steal every time) If someone will felt any pair postflop, its good for value. If you get called in 3 spots behind you, yeah its pretty blah. Presumably Isura didn't expect that to happen.

Villain is very loose, but kinda dumb. Do you like my line?

Party Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

CO: $42.51
BTN: $92
SB: $35.47
BB: $67.32
Hero (UTG): $60.42

Pre-Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (UTG)
Hero raises to $3.50, CO calls $3.50, BTN folds, SB calls $3, BB calls $2.50

[/ QUOTE ]

I like playing hands like this, tbh. However, seeing has how the stacks are a bit short at the table, I don't like playing K9s here.

Flop: ($14) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 Players)
SB checks, BB bets $5, Hero raises to $10, 2 folds, BB calls $5

[/ QUOTE ]

heh. Usually minraises are ill-advised. But I believe it serves many purposes here:
1. It puts a lot of pressure on CO and SB since they may face a 3-bet from BB,
2. but it's small enough that you can fold to a 3-bet if he makes one,
3. his reaction to the minraise (arguably) reveals information about his hand and narrows his possible holdings,
4. and leaves you as the last aggressor in the hand, which leads to...

Turn: ($34) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero checks

[/ QUOTE ]

...the turn. He'll almost always check to you since you were the last aggressor. You now have what was top pair, and you've picked up a flush draw.

I really like this check. I feel that any meaningful bet here is going to result in a CRAI from most better hands, forcing you to pay full price for your flush draw, or fold most (if not all) hands that you are beating. IMO the raise flop/check turn IP line induces river bluffs very well.

River: ($34) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB bets $53.82 and is All-In, Hero calls $46.92 and is All-In

[/ QUOTE ]

Ugly. He overbets the pot rather than betting something like $20 or $25 or $30. From my experience, when I induce a bluff, it's almost never an all-in. If he were bluffing, he could have done it cheaper. I think this is J9 or maybe trip 5s quite a bit. Obviously could be a set also. But I don't see this as a bluff very often, or as a valuebet with a modest hand either. Then again, villain is kinda dumb. Unless you have a significant read, I'd fold here.
